Building Financial Footing: Finding fiscal footing for housing regeneration

Case Study - part of HSC's Regeneration Forum Like other non-profit landlords in the province, the Ottawa Community Housing Corporation (OCH) was working to balance day-to-day obligations, provide safe communities, manage costs and maintain its aging housing assets. In 2011, OCH initiated the development of a Long Range Financial Strategy to help build a solid foundation from which to better address fiscal realities. While not yet formally adopted, the Strategy has already established key areas of focus, set out proposed actions and piloted asset leveraging techniques. In this way, the financial foundation set out by the Strategy has created a strong fiscal footing on which to pursue future asset regeneration.
