HSC hosted its first ever, Risk Management Forum. This Forum equipped delegates with information around preventing and reducing insurance claims. Experts in insurance and risk management as well as from your housing sector peers shared insights, approaches and practices that have been successful in mitigating and managing adversity.

The World Beyond Your Portfolio:
Our UK insurance expert discussed key issues facing the insurance market. Drawing on examples such as the Fort McMurray fires and Florida Hurricanes; our speaker explained how underwriters view risk and how that affects our premium rates.
This session also discussed the HSC group insurance program and how the work providers are doing to mitigate risk fits into the bigger picture (i.e. emergency planning, loss control inspections, tenant insurance and risk seminars)

This session brought housing providers from across Ontario who have launched successful strategies for addressing common issues. Specifically this session addressed:
