HSC is pleased to partner with Cahdco for full day event looking at tools for enabling collaboration in the housing sector.
This event will feature keynote speaker Carolyn Whitzman, who will share lessons learned for improving partnership, collaborations and capacity. Dr. Whitzman will draw on her experience leading a six-year community-government-university partnership in Melbourne Australia titled ‘Transforming Housing, that focused on scaling up the quantity and quality of affordable housing’.
This event will also highlight local innovations emerging in the Ottawa housing sector.
Professor Carolyn Whitzman is currently the Bank of Montreal Scholar at the Institute of Feminist and Gender Studies, University of Ottawa. At the University of Melbourne, Dr. Whitzman led a six-year community-government-university partnership, Transforming Housing, that focused on scaling up the quantity and quality of affordable housing. She is the lead editor of Building Inclusive Cities: Women’s Safety and the Right to the City (Routledge, 2013), and author of Suburb, Slum, Urban Village: Transformations in Toronto Neighbourhood [Parkdale] 1875-2002 (UBC Press, 2009), and The Handbook of Community Safety, Gender, and Violence Prevention: Practical Planning Tools (Earthscan, 2008).
